Downloading Songs from Seeqpod with Live HTTP Headers
Add this to a lengthy list of ways to download songs and music from the Internet - saving it from Seeqpod, a music search engine. This tutorial will be short and brief, as it assumes you’ve already read our other tutorial on downloading YouTube videos and are familiar with the process. You’ll need the Live HTTP Headers extension, and Mozilla Firefox.
Search Seeqpod
We’ll be searching for the Portal end theme song, “Still Alive” by Jonathon Coulton.
Open Live HTTP Headers
Open up Live HTTP Headers (Tools → Live HTTP Headers), switch to the Generator tab, and check Request as well as uncheck Images and CSS.
Play the Soon to be Downloaded Song
Pick your search result, hit the green play button and it’ll move to your Seeqpod playlist pane on the right.
Download the Song
An entry that follows the template below should appear in Seeqpod:
#request# GET http://youtube.seeqpod.com/api/youtube.com/fetch?t=random letters/numbers
Right-click the entry, pick Copy, open a new Firefox tab (don’t close the Seeqpod tab), and paste the URL. Remove #request# GET as necessary. A download file prompt should appear, so save it to a place you’ll find it, and stick a .mp3 after your chosen file name.
