Sync Host and Guest Folders in VirtualBox
Aug 14As a follow up to our seamless Ubuntu in Windows tutorials, we’re going to show you how to sync a Windows (host) folder to a folder in the Ubuntu (guest). You’ll need to have guest additions installed on the guest OS for this one.
For this tutorial we’ll be syncing the H: drive on Windows (yours will probably be C:) with /home/jason/windows in Ubuntu. (more…)

Free Windows Software Alternatives
Aug 12I’ve guest blogged at Quick Online Tips, a technology blog which posts about blogging tips, Web 2.0, and computer software. You can read the article over here. It lists free software replacements for Windows built in software, such as Movie Maker and Notepad.
Since this is a mainly empty post, I’d also like to ask readers for any feedback or requests. I’d appreciate any feedback in the comments section of this post below.
Installing Entertainer Media Center on Ubuntu
Aug 9Entertainer is a relatively new media center for Gnome and XFCE desktops, currently at version 0.1 as of this writing. This tutorial will focus on the installation of Entertainer on Ubuntu with as little command line use as possible. If you’re comfortable with the command line, this tutorial should suffice. Move My Documents to a Separate Partition
Aug 7(XP only) - We’re going to be using TweakUI to move My Documents to a separate partition (similar to setting Linux’s /home on a separate partition). In this tutorial, we’re going to be moving our own important contents of My Documents to the new partition (we’re not setting up our new partition as My Documents as unwanted folders tend to build up there - but this tutorial can easily be adapted to set the partition as My Documents).
For what reasons? Easier backup of files, and an easy to access collection of your files, not the odd unwanted folders that tend to pop up (EA Games, Battlefield 2, My Stationary, My Google Gadgets, etc.). We’re going to assume you have a new NTFS partition setup already. (more…)

Get Rid of MySpace Ads and Header
Jul 31This post begins a series on tackling Satan’s MySpace’s crippled profile customization system. In this particular post, we’ll be killing the top ad and header, leaving you with just a profile (You could just use Adblock, but you would have to tell everyone who visits to get Firefox/Adblock).
Note: This tutorial demonstrates using CSS to hide the underworld’s MySpace’s ads, which are against the Terms of Service. And yes, we hate the cesspit MySpace.
Just add the following code into one of your boxes:
<style type="text/css">
.clearfix { display: none; }
</style>
Hope this comes in handy.
